主要研究领域包括球宿根花卉、杜鹃花等园林植物的种质资源与创新、栽培生理和生物技术应用,园林花境植物选择与配置研究,花园植物造景与种植设计理论与实践研究。主持或曾主持国家自然科学基金面上2项、科技部863项目子课题和“十四五”重点研发课题任务各1项,以及浙江省自然科学基金3项,浙江省林木与花卉育种重大专项3项;主持植物种植设计相关规划与设计研究项目20余项。发表各类论文200余篇,其中SCI收录论文57篇,包括在The Plant Journal、Journal of Experimental Botany、Plant, Cell and Environment、Plant Biotechnology Journal等国际著名期刊发表高质量论文12篇。主编《园林花境景观设计》等著作6本,参编全国统编教材5本;获授权国家发明专利25项,其中第一发明人专利8项;已培养硕士62人,博士12人,博士后出站7人。2016年获“浙江省优秀科技工作者”荣誉称号,担任2019北京世界园艺博览会国际竞赛最高评审团评委,2021年获浙江省科技兴林奖一等奖。
