The ArchIBALD Data Integration Platform: Bridging Fragmented Processes in the Building Industry.

While recent efforts in establishing digital technologies in the building industry model individual phases of the building process, the data involved in these phases largely remain in data silos. This prevents the global consideration of data across phases, e.g., to analyze these data to steer or adapt processes or guide decisions. The ArchIBALD information system architecture tackles this challenge. The architecture design allows bi-directional exchange of information (e.g., in the form of feedback-loops) across components to allow novel adaptive building processes based on data integration. This novel feature is used by methods to enrich available data with information necessary to match designed components to resources available to fabricate, transport, or otherwise handle these automatically. We showcase how ArchIBALD allows joint analysis of traditionally fragmented data on the use case of optimizing task assignment.
