A psychometric approach to assess justice perceptions in support of the governance of agricultural sustainability transitions

•There is a need for just sustainability transitions, but it is unclear how this should be achieved.•Justice has no universal meaning; perceptions on what a just transition is will vary.•Based on the underlying structure of justice evaluations we build an instrument to assess justice perceptions.•We developed valid measures for several justice constructs.•Other constructs need further research.
