In view of the excessive grease content in kitchen wastewater and the limited oil removal efficiency of conventional treatment systems, this study isolated a highly efficient oil-degrading bacterium (strain Y1) from soil beneath a kitchen waste pipeline and investigated its degradation performance. Through morphological observation, biochemical tests, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing, strain Y1 was identified as Klebsiella pneumoniae. The growth characteristics and oil degradation performance revealed the optimal degradation conditions to be 35 °C, pH 7.0, and 180 r/min. Under these conditions, the oil degradation rate reached 48.7%. In a simulated treatment of actual kitchen oil-rich wastewater, strain Y1 achieved the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal rate of 62% in 48 h (reaching 62.8% at 66 h) and an oil degradation rate of 60.7% in 96 h (slightly increasing to 60.9% at 108 h). These results highlight the potential of strain Y1 for practical application in the bioremediation of oily wastewater. This study provides a new microbial resource and technical reference for the biological treatment of kitchen grease wastewater.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) is a predominant pathogen responsible for severe nosocomial infections, with rising multidrug resistance posing a critical threat to global health. Despite the promise of vaccination, antigenic diversity and complex virulence mechanisms involving multiple biomacromolecules have impeded the development of an effective vaccine. This study aims to map the research landscape of P. aeruginosa vaccine development. A comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 1701 publications from the Web of Science (WOS) and PubMed database (1970–2025) was conducted using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. A pronounced increase in annual publication output following 2013 was observed, with the USA and China identified as the principal contributors. Keyword clustering and burst detection analyses revealed emerging research foci on multi-epitope vaccine constructs, biomacromolecule-based antigen design, including outer membrane proteins, polysaccharides, and vesicles, and innovative delivery platforms such as nanoparticles. Contemporary investigations emphasize structural vaccinology, reverse immunology methodologies, and the application of biodegradable polymers for antigen encapsulation. Overall, this study reveals shifting research priorities and offers a data-driven framework to inform future research directions of P. aeruginosa vaccine development. Notably, the convergence of computational vaccine design with advanced macromolecular delivery systems presents substantial promise for the development of broadly protective vaccines against P. aeruginosa.
Accurate assessment of erythrocyte osmotic fragility (EOF) is essential for diagnosing hemolytic disorders, yet traditional methods are labor-intensive and time-consuming, limiting their clinical efficiency. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of a fully automated EOF analysis system developed by Shenzhen Pumen Technology Co., Ltd., which utilizes scatter turbidimetry, and to determine its accuracy and consistency compared with the conventional spectrophotometric method. A total of 114 whole blood samples were analyzed using the automated system with reagents from Changchun Huili Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and results were compared with those obtained from the Shimadzu UV-2450 spectrophotometer as the reference method. Consistency between the two systems was assessed using linear regression, Kappa statistics, Bland-Altman analysis, and medical decision level bias evaluation. The automated EOF system demonstrated a strong linear correlation with the reference method, achieving a Kappa value of 1.00, indicating complete agreement in classification results. Moreover, 99.11% of data points fell within acceptable ranges, and bias confidence intervals at the medical decision level were below threshold values. These findings indicate that the fully automated EOF system provides stable and reliable results that align with clinical needs and offer high consistency with traditional methods, supporting its potential for broader clinical application and promotion.
The lymphocyte to high-density lipoprotein ratio (LHR), a clinically novel marker, may more accurately represent inflammatory levels and body immunity compared to single parameters. However, there is not sufficient evidence that LHR and total bone mineral density (BMD) in teenagers are related. The data utilized in this cross-sectional study derived from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), which ran from 2011 to 2018. To calculate the LHR, the lymphocyte count was divided by the HDL level. An investigation on the relationship between LHR and BMD was conducted using a linear regression analysis. Three distinct analytical scenarios employing multivariate logistic regression were implemented to evaluate the independent association between LHR activity and BMD. A stratified regression analysis was used to further examine them. In addition, threshold analysis was used to determine the inflection point. Among 6,068 adolescents (mean age 13.18 ± 2.73 years), a significant negative association was observed. In the fully adjusted model (controlling for demographics, socioeconomic status, lifestyle, and comorbidities), each unit increase in LHR was associated with a 0.02 g/cm2 decrease in total BMD (β = -0.02, 95
Municipal solid waste incineration fly ash (MSWI FA) leachate (FAL) is a potential source of heavy metal pollution, but its bioaccumulation and aquatic toxicity remains poorly characterized. In this study, FAL collected from a major incineration plant in Chongqing, China, underwent residual organic removal, followed by heavy metal (HMs) speciation analysis via ICP-MS and bioaccumulation assessment using zebrafish. Results identified the primary HMs in FAL descending order: Cu > Zn > Pb > Cr > Ni > Cd, while bioconcentration factors (BCFs) ranked Cd > Ni > Cu > Zn > Pb > Cr, revealing Cd's exceptional bioaccumulation capacity despite its low environmental concentration. Additionally, zebrafish embryos were exposed to FAL (> 500 mg/L, w/v; total heavy metals: 496.99 ± 20.1 μg/L) induced severe developmental toxicity, including increased mortality, delayed hatching, and morphological malformations. While > 50 mg/L FAL (> 48.9 ± 2.7 μg/L total heavy metals) caused locomotor deficits with swimming distance reduced by 45 90
