Objective:To analyze the detection strategy and basic detection situation of markers of infectious diseases transmitted by transfusion in blood testing laboratories of blood stations in China. Methods:Based on the data of practice comparison working party of Blood Stations in Mainland of China from 2017 to 2021, the data on the testing strategies and the basic detection information of the markers for the transmission of infectious diseases through transfusion in the member laboratories of the practice comparison working party of Blood Stations in Mainland of China from 2017 to 2021 were collected, and the situation of the selection for testing markers, testing strategy and the testing method and other relevant aspects were sorted out and analyzed by charts. Results:The selection of the testing markers was consistent, but HTLV testing item was added in some member laboratories. The detection strategy of using two ELISA reagents and one nucleic acid testing (NAT) reagent simultaneously was adopted in 47 member blood stations; 3) NAT method was dominated by mini pool-NAT in member laboratories. The number of members adopting mini-pools of 8 (MP8)-NAT decreased from 17 in 2017 to 14 in 2021, while the number of members adopting mini-pools of 6 (MP6)-NAT increased from 13 in 2017 to 22 in 2021; Roche NAT system accounted for the largest proportion. Conclusions:In order to ensure blood safety and avoid missing detection, the blood stations still adopt the detection strategy of using two ELISA reagents and one nucleic acid testing (NAT) reagent simultaneously; Meanwhile, in order to increase the NAT positive rate, the proportion of mini pool-NAT mainly decreased year by year despite its dominating role, while the proportion of individual donation-NAT increased year by year; NAT method is transiting from mini-pools of 8 (MP8) to mini-pools of 6 (MP6); The proportion of imported NAT system used in NAT laboratory is relatively large.
Objective To explore the analytical methods for detecting data in the process of quality inspection of blood component samples. Methods The quality inspection data of blood component samples from 2018 to 2022 in our center were collected. Based on the principles of statistical process control, control charts were created using Minitab software to analyze key test items. Results The P control chart was used to analyze the pass rate of platelet content and revealed one out-of-control point. The normality test was performed on plasma protein content to analyze the causes of data fluctuations for further improvement. The mean and range control chart was utilized for hematocrit measurement, with abnormal data trends detected. Further analysis of the normality test and process capability analysis was conducted, resulting in a Cpk value of 0.67. Conclusion By applying statistical process control methods, the study employed P control charts to analyze count data in the quality inspection of blood component samples, conducted normality tests for measurement data, and utilized mean and range control charts to identify abnormal data trends. For data conforming to a normal distribution, the process capability index (Cpk) was calculated to explore effective monitoring methods for ensuring stability in the blood supply process.
Objective To analyze the epidemic trend of Treponema pallidum(TP) infection among voluntary blood donors in Urumqi, to provide a basis for the recruitment of voluntary blood donations, reduce the waste of blood and blood products, and ensure blood safety. Methods ELISA was used to detect the TP infection in voluntary blood donors from 2005 to 2017; the trend of TP infection in voluntary blood donors from 2010 to 2017 was analyzed. The infection status of primary and repeat blood donations, different blood donation patterns, different blood types and different genders was compared and analyzed from 2010 to 2017. Results The positive rate of TP infection among unpaid blood donors in Urumqi from 2005 to 2017 was high, and the positive rate of TP increased from 2010,showing a fluctuating upward trend, from 0.364% to 0.681%. The positive rate of first-time blood donors was 0.823%(2021/245544),which was significantly higher than that of repeated blood donors, 0.154%(244/158452); the positive rate of whole blood donors was0.793%(2167/273370), which was significantly higher than that of apheresis platelet donors 0.075%(98/130626); there was no significant difference in the positive rate of Treponema pallidum among blood donors of different blood types and genders, type A was0.0560%(662/118241), type B was 0.583(694/119070), type O was 0.534%(675/126447), AB type 0.582(234/40238); male0.551%(1506/273370), female blood donors 0.581%. Conclusion The positive rate of TP among unpaid blood donors in Urumqi from2010 to 2017 increased, and the risk of transfusion-transmitted Treponema pallidum also followed. The recruitment of blood donors from low-risk groups should be strengthened, and the pre-donation consultation for high-risk blood donors should be strengthened to increase the ratio of repeat blood donors among blood donors.
