Nature-based challenging leisure activities have become increasingly popular; however, their impact on subjective well-being has not been fully explored. Based on self-determination theory, experiential learning theory and social context theory, this research constructs a theoretical model of the impact of nature-based leisure activities on subjective well-being. The results of two surveys and three experiments suggested that challenging (vs. relaxing) leisure activity can significantly enhance subjective well-being, with immersion serving as a mediator. The moderating effects of social context (solo vs. joint) were examined. In particular, when leisure participation is with companions, participants in challenging (vs. relaxing) leisure activities tend to experience significantly higher levels of immersion and subjective well-being. However, the solo social context weakens the positive effects of challenging leisure activities. Our results highlight the importance of nature-based challenging leisure activities and social context on subjective well-being, and provide implications for enhancing immersive leisure experiences at natural destinations.
We investigate single- and two-photon transport in a one-dimensional waveguide chirally coupled to dissipative Rydberg atom pairs. Using the Laplace transform method, we analytically solve the single- and two-photon scattering problems. Our results show that, by leveraging dissipative effects and the chiral coupling structure, the system can act as a perfect single-photon diode, i.e. the transmittance is unity from one side and zero from the other. A two-photon diode is also realized. Interestingly, the transmitted probability density of the diode increases significantly when atomic dissipation is included. Notably, in the absence of dissipation, transmission is primarily due to correlated photons, whereas in the dissipative system, it is dominated by freely propagating photons. Furthermore, the Rydberg coupling between the atoms, which is experimentally tunable, can be used to modulate the diode effect. Finally, we find that reducing the width of the incident photon wavepacket further enhances the transmission probability density of the two-photon diode. The proposed scheme has potential for applications in quantum communication.
Constructing unique structures and optimizing the morphology of catalysts are effective strategies to enhance photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity. In this study, LaNiO3 with diverse morphologies was synthesized through the addition of surfactants and subsequently coupled with ZnCdS for the first time to construct an S-scheme heterojunction. This significantly improved its photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance. Notably, rod-shaped LaNiO3 demonstrated superior hydrogen evolution performance, which can be attributed to its higher loading capacity, effective suppression of catalyst aggregation, and exposure of more active sites for hydrogen evolution, thus enhancing the overall activity of the photocatalytic reaction. Rod-shaped LaNiO3 demonstrated superior hydrogen evolution performance, which can be attributed to its higher loading capacity, effective suppression of catalyst aggregation, and exposure to more active sites. The findings indicate that the composite catalyst 15 % rod-shaped LaNiO3 achieved a hydrogen production rate of 52091 μmol/(g h) in five hours and exhibited an apparent quantum efficiency of 11.16 % at a wavelength of 420 nm. The experimental findings, along with theoretical computations, have validated the formation of a well-regulated topography and S-scheme heterojunction while elucidating the underlying charge transfer mechanism. This study offers valuable perspectives on the morphological regulation of photocatalysts and the logical construction of heterojunctions, providing important theoretical significance and practical value.
Herein, we have developed Ag/In2S3/BiOBr double-heterojunction photocatalysts by decorating (001)-facet exposed BiOBr nanodisks with In2S3 and Ag nanoparticles. It is demonstrated that the ternary Ag/In2S3/BiOBr photocatalysts exhibit higher photocatalysis for degradation of various organic pollutants and H2O2 synthesis than In2S3 and BiOBr as well as binary In2S3/BiOBr and Ag/BiOBr photocatalysts. Typically, the 0.4%Ag/20%IS/ BOB results in a 96.9% degradation of ciprofloxacin within 120 min and exhibits a photodegradation activity 3.9 (or 8.3) times higher than that of BiOBr (or In2S3). The yield rate of H2O2 over the 0.4%Ag/20%IS/BOB reaches 1800 mu mol g-1 h-1, which is 2.5 (or 5.6) times higher than that over BiOBr (or In2S3). The enhanced photo-catalysis mechanism can be explained because the created In2S3/BiOBr and BiOBr/Ag interface electric fields as well as the localized surface plasmon resonance effect of Ag nanoparticles synergistically promote the photo-carrier transfer and separation, consequently enabling more photocarrier to participate in the photocatalytic reactions.
Developing highly efficient photocatalysts has been an important research topic in promoting their application in photocatalytic hydrogen generation. In this study, we have developed Ag2S@Cd0.7Zn0.3S (AS@CZS) heterojunction hollow nanocages as promising photocatalysts, which are constructed by decorating AS on the surface of CZS hexagonal nanocages. It is demonstrated that the created heterojunction interface field forces the S-scheme photocarrier transfer between the conduction band (CB) of CZS and valence band (VB) of AS, thereby enhancing the photocarrier separation and enabling the photoelectrons in the AS'CB to take part in the H2 evolution reactions more efficiently. Furthermore, the remarkable photothermal effect of the AS@CZS photocatalysts can further accelerate the migration and separation of the photocarriers, thus further promoting the improvement in photocatalysis. In addition, the hollow structure of the AS@CZS heterojunction nanocages is beneficial to the light absorption due to the multiple reflection of the incident light. These advantages endow the AS@CZS heterojunction nanocages with remarkable photocatalytic H2 evolution performance. The AS@CZS(3,7) is demonstrated to have the best photocatalysis, over which the H2 generation rate reaches 3.023 mmol g- 1 h- 1 and is improved by 4.8 (or 11.0) times over that of bare CZS (or AS). Experimental and theoretical studies are combined to deeply elucidate the photocatalytic mechanism. This study highlights a promising strategy in designing excellent photocatalysts for H2 generation.
