Green, one of the three primary colors, plays a crucial role in electroluminescent (EL) devices, making green EL materials a vital component of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, to date, there has been no systematic review specifically focusing on the research progress of green EL materials. In this review, we have not aimed to list narrow-band green EL materials exhaustively. Instead, our main goal is to provide a focused, in-depth analysis that highlights the essential role of green emitters in modern optoelectronic technology. We systematically examine the core design strategies underlying high-performance narrow-band green electroluminescent materials, analyzing critical factors such as molecular engineering, excited-state characteristics, and device architecture to elucidate the relationship between molecular structure and the position, bandwidth, and emission properties of the emission peaks. By synthesizing these vital insights, this work aims to provide valuable theoretical foundations and practical guidance, helping researchers rationally and efficiently develop next-generation, high-performance green-emitting materials for advanced display and lighting applications.
Amidoxime-based materials are widely used for uranium adsorption due to their selective capacity. However, current preparation methods, such as homogeneous modification in organic solvents or heterogeneous modification in aqueous solutions, pose environmental challenges. In this study, an amidoxime polyacrylonitrile-sodium alginate composite membrane (PAO-SA) was synthesized via simple blending and nonsolvent phase separation using sodium thiocyanate as the solvent. SEM-EDS analysis confirmed the uniform distribution of U(VI) adsorbed onto the PAO-SA membrane surface. The optimal adsorption performance was achieved at pH 6.0 and a temperature of 298 K, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 326.1 mg/g. The membrane demonstrated excellent selectivity toward U(VI) in the presence of competing ions, exhibiting a high distribution coefficient (K d = 3.0 & times; 104). Adsorption-desorption experiments identified 0.5 mol/L NaHCO3 as the most effective eluent, achieving a desorption efficiency of 93.2% after six cycles while maintaining an adsorption capacity of 309.0 mg/g. Kinetic and thermodynamic evaluations revealed that the adsorption process followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model and conformed to the Langmuir isotherm, indicating chemisorption governed by a spontaneous, endothermic mechanism. The PAO-SA composite membrane is environmentally friendly and easy to prepare and demonstrates strong selective adsorption and recyclability, making it commercially viable for uranium removal.
Background and ObjectivesInflammation is an established risk factor in the development of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). This study aimed to investigate the associations between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) with progression of CSVD.MethodsThis prospective cohort study used data from the PolyvasculaR Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and vaScular Events study between 2017 and 2024. Participants were excluded for a history of stroke or cancer or because of missing data on baseline systemic inflammatory markers or follow-up neuroimaging for CSVD. Baseline systemic inflammatory markers were calculated by neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, and platelets count data, and categorized into 4 groups according to the quartiles. The progression of total CSVD burden, using Wardlaw and Rothwell ratings, along with progression of specific MRI markers were assessed between baseline and wave 3 follow-up (similar to 4.7 years). Assessment of the associations was performed using log-binomial regression models.ResultsThe median follow-up duration was 4.7 years (interquartile range 4.5-4.8), and 2,267 participants were included. At baseline, the mean age of the participants was 60.4 years, with 50.6% being male. An elevation in NLR was associated with progression of total CSVD burden (Wardlaw: adjusted relative risk [aRR] 1.23, 95% CI 1.08-1.41; Rothwell: aRR 1.29, 95% CI 1.11-1.50) and incident cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) (aRR 1.43, 95% CI 1.16-1.78). High level of MLR was associated with incident lacunes (aRR 1.88, 95% CI 1.28-2.77) and incident CMBs (aRR 1.33, 95% CI 1.08-1.65). High level of SII was associated with progression of total CSVD burden (Wardlaw: aRR 1.15, 95% CI 1.01-1.31; Rothwell: aRR 1.17, 95% CI 1.01-1.35) and incident CMBs (aRR 1.34, 95% CI 1.10-1.64). Linear associations between these markers and progression of CSVD were demonstrated by restricted cubic spline analysis.DiscussionThis community-based prospective study demonstrated that elevated NLR, MLR, and SII were associated with progression of total CSVD burden and progression of white matter hyperintensity, incident lacunes, and CMBs over similar to 4.7 years, supporting their potential to provide additional context for CSVD preventive considerations. Limitations include study's single-city population and the lack of dynamic changes in inflammatory markers.
Fluorination is a widely adopted strategy to enhance SF6 capture in porous adsorbents. However, the interplay between fluorine density and pore architecture remains insufficiently understood. In this work, we synthesized two fluorinated polyketaminal networks (PKANs) with distinct fluorine contents to investigate the trade-offs between chemical affinity and steric effects. The moderately fluorinated PKAN-2 (4.2 wt% F) exhibits an exceptional SF6/N2 IAST selectivity of 150.1 at 298 K, significantly outperforming the more heavily fluorinated PKAN-3 (13 wt% F). Although maximizing fluorine content is a common design strategy, our findings reveal that excessive functionalization increases the steric strain and torsional distortion of the monomers. This hinders efficient pi-pi stacking and framework densification, leading to the formation of textural mesopores (similar to 3.9 nm) and a decreased specific surface area. Consequently, PKAN-2 preserves well-defined ultramicropores (similar to 0.6 nm) that provide optimal spatial confinement, optimizing host-guest interactions through pore-wall potential overlap, whereas PKAN-3 suffers from a diminished confinement effect due to steric-induced packing defects. This study establishes that for fluorinated adsorbents, optimizing the microenvironment is more critical than simply maximizing the functional group density.
We investigated the effects of dietary supplementation of Spirulina platensis and Haematococcus pluvialis effects on growth performance, digestive enzymes, antioxidant enzymes, phosphatase activities, and the expression of HSPs in zebrafish (Danio rerio). Fish were fed diets containing different levels of S. platensis: 4% (SP4), 8% (SP8), or 16% (SP16) or H. pluvialis: 4% (HP4), 8% (HP8), or 16% (HP16) for 60 days. Compared with the control group, the weight gain and specific growth rates of zebrafish in groups SP4 and SP8 were significantly elevated and the gains were accompanied by increases in protease and lipase activities. The opposite results were observed in fish from groups HP8 and HP16. Dose-dependent increases were detected in SOD and CAT activities in zebrafish fed S. platensis or H. pluvialis supplemented diets. Zebrafish fed 8% and 16% S. platensis had substantial elevations in the expression of HSP70 and HSP90. Therefore, zebrafish fed a diet supplemented with S. platensis (especially at 8%) showed a significantly improved growth performance, antioxidant status, and anti-stress capability. Dietary addition of low concentrations of H. pluvialis (4%) did not retard zebrafish growth and improved the antioxidant capacity of zebrafish.
