The Sainthia State General Hospital is the main hospital in Sainthia city. It is a 100 bedded government funded hospital. This State General Hospital serves the entire Sainthia city but not only the Santhia city area, people from Kundola, Kotasur, Mayureswar and Labhpur are also dependent on this hospital.
The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated (Cas) nucleases system (CRISPR/Cas9) is a popular gene-editing technology with an expanding scope in the field of medicine. Recent studies have investigated the role of CRISPR/Cas9 system in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD). Since the risk of occurrence of both conditions is strongly associated with genetic mutations and variations, the use of gene-editing technologies to rectify these genetic errors becomes relevant. The CRISPR/Cas9 system has been tested in AD, which has led to a decrease in either amyloid beta deposition or tau phosphorylation in cells. Likewise, genetic mutations in cells affected by PD have been corrected with promising results in initial studies undertaken. Therefore, the use of the CRISPR/Cas9 system should be expanded among different populations to understand its efficacy and safety in depth among neurodegenerative conditions.
The level of satisfaction received on the job is highly essential in the discharge of duty. Nurses' respected level of job satisfaction improves turnover, commitment, and patient satisfaction. This study assesses factors affecting job satisfaction among nurses at the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital, Ondo, Nigeria, to identify factors responsible for job satisfaction. The study utilizes the Index of Work Satisfaction with few modifications. Questionnaires were distributed to 154 sample respondents across different units of the hospital. Cronbach's Alpha is used to validate the internal consistency of the instrument. Data coding and cleaning were done using Microsoft Excel, and analysis was done with SPSS (version 23). The percentage is used to explore the responses. In contrast, independent sample t tests and one-way analysis of variance are used to assess variations across different sociodemographic groups of the respondents. Results show that higher percentages of the respondents are dissatisfied with their job because of issues relating to salary and benefits. Workload and Administrative & management bottlenecks also sometimes contribute to job dissatisfaction. Professional pride and colleague relationships are not significant factors that affect job satisfaction. To retain the best hands in the hospital, the management is advised to constantly look into issues relating to salary and benefits for the nurses. They are also advised to look into the processes and procedures for career advancement and pay upgrades in the hospital.
Purpose To study whether it is better to perform or not a myomectomy, in terms of surgical and reproductive outcomes in patients of advanced reproductive age, by an observational prospective study in university-affiliated and Community Hospitals. Materials and methods 40 years and older patients affected by non-submucous symptomatic uterine fibroids and desiring future fertility were enrolled and treated by laparoscopic intracapsular myomectomy by (LIM) or by open laparotomy (OIM), or by a non-surgical management as control group, while attempting to conceive. The primary outcome measures were fibroid characteristics, pre- and post-surgical parameters, pregnancy achievement; the secondary outcome measures were the spontaneous or ART pregnancy outcomes, eventual week of abortion and type of delivery. Propensity scores have been calculated with logistic regression for binary and continuous variables. Results 202 patients completed the study: 112 operated by LIM, 40 by OIM and 50 patients as control group. Patients undergoing OIM have a worse surgical outcome than LIM. No difference was seen in pregnancy either after myomectomy or control group during follow-up. In the LIM group, there were 44 pregnancies (39.2%), and in the OIM group, there were 9 (22.5%) and 16 in the control group (32%). The weeks of delivery were statistically greater for the control group versus the surgical groups, with no difference in Apgar score between the 3 groups. Conclusion Patients aged over 40 years did not show substantial differences in reproductive outcome, whether operated or not. Myomectomy in over 40-year-old patients has no detrimental effect on future pregnancy rates and over when compared to expectant management.
The prevalence of cancer, especially in industrial countries, is a major problem for health and treatment systems. Cancer can affect the quality of life of all family members and has many negative effects on the community. Despite many advances in cancer treatment, this disease is still a major worldwide problem. There is strong evidence that dietary habits are effective in protecting against cancer and even helping in the disease treatment progress. Nuts with various biologically-active compounds, such as vitamins, phytosterols, isoflavones, flavonoids, and polyphenols have been reported to possess anticarcinogenic properties. Accordingly, this review provides an insight into the association between nut consumption and the prevention of some cancers. We considered the cancers related to the urogenital and genital tract, gastrointestinal tract, as well as women-related cancers. Both cell culture examinations and experimental animal studies alongside observational epidemiological studies demonstrated that regular consumption of a nut-enriched diet is able to reduce the risk of these cancers.
Background: Diaphyseal forearm fracture is one of the most commonly encountered fractures of the upper extremity. The literatures comparing the outcome of plate fixation and intramedullary nailing in adults are scarce and therefore the consensus on superiority of one over the other is lacking. This study was undertaken to compare the outcome of these operative techniques in adults with diaphyseal fracture of both bone forearm. Aims and Objectives: This study was undertaken to compare the outcome of plate fixation and intramedullary nailing in adults with diaphyseal fracture of both bone forearm. Materials and Methods: Patients of 18–70 years of age, with diaphyseal fractures of both bones of the forearm of <21 days old, were recruited. Patients were randomly allocated to two treatment groups: intramedullary nailing and plate osteosynthesis. Patients were followed up at 4th week, 12th week, and 24th week post-operative period. Functional outcome was measured at the end of 24th week based on the Clinical and Radiological parameters by Anderson et al., Score, Grace-Eversman Score, and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) Score. Results: This study comprised of 40 cases (n=40) who completed the follow-up period of 24 weeks. Most of the patients treated with plate (80%) demonstrated excellent outcome as per Anderson et al., score while the outcome was unsatisfactory in 50% of those treated with nails. About 90% of the patients of plate group had excellent result in contrast to 50% in case of nail group following Grace Eversman criteria. Considering DASH score, the former group showed mostly excellent (40%) and good (45%) outcome while the latter exhibited mostly fair (55%) and good (30%) result. Conclusion: It may be stated that plate osteosynthesis is a better option in the treatment of diaphyseal fracture of both bones forearm in adults.
