Objective: To investigate the growth and quality of Peucedani Radix under different cultivation methods.Methods: The emergence rate, bolting rate, yield and quality of Peucedani Radix were investigated under different treatment conditions of seeds, sowing time, altitude, bolt-removing and shading. Moreover, the contents of praeruptorin A, praeruptorin B and praeruptorin E were determined by high performance liquid chromatography（HPLC） to characterize the quality of Peucedani Radix. Results: Cultivation methods for high yield and quality of Peucedani Radix were established, and the key points were summarized as follows: selecting annual seeds with green and yellow seed coat, sowing them in the middle and late December at high altitude plots with 60% shading, and removing the bolting stem in plant bolting in March-May,accompanied by necessary field maintenance and management. Conclusion: The cultivation methods effectively reduced the bolting rate, increased the contents of effective components, and improved the yield and quality of cultivated Peucedani Radix, thus creating high economic and social benefits.
