The increase in greenhouse gas emission from the transportation sectors and manufacturing industries has emerged as most important factor that directly affects the environment. Research has intensely focused on developing new kinds of light-weight materials for the use of components that are manufactured with conventional materials made from petroleum products. Natural ligno-cellulosic fiber combined with the biopolymer finds the sustainable solution these global warming due to its reduced CO2 emission, biodegradability nature and high strength to weight ratio. In present study proposed to conduct the suitability analysis of new kind of ecofriendly lightweight natural fiber reinforced biopolymer composites with madar short fiber (MF), coal mine bur out particles (CP) and epoxy as the constituent materials through investigating the tribological, mechanical, Visco-elastic and metallurgical properties. Fabrication of six different new combinations of hybrid biopolymer composites by maintaining 15 and 30
Maintaining zonal isolation and structural integrity in deep-well cementing operations under demanding downhole environments remains a challenge due to cement degradation and fluid migration. This study addresses this issue by incorporating a novel biogenically synthesized Se@Ag/AgO–ZnO nanocomposite into a Class G cement matrix blended with 10 wt
This study presents the green hydrothermal synthesis of ZnS/CDs nanocomposites using carbon dots (CDs) derived from pomegranate juice. First, CDs were prepared via a hydrothermal method and then used as reducing and stabilizing agents in a second hydrothermal step to form ZnS/CDs nanocomposites. For comparison, pure zinc sulfide nanoparticles (ZnS NPs) were also prepared using deionized water under similar conditions. X-ray diffraction confirmed the formation of ZnS, with a reduced crystallite size in the ZnS/CDs composite due to the capping effect of CDs. In addition, EDX analysis confirmed the elemental composition of the ZnS/CDs nanocomposites, while the zeta potential value of -31.5 mV indicated good colloidal stability. Fourier transform infrared and transmission electron microscopy analyses further indicated strong interactions and improved dispersion in the composite. The antibacterial efficacy was calculated through the agar-well diffusion method against Gram-negative Escherichia coli and Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus. The nanocomposite ZnS/CDs (200 µg/mL) exhibits superior antibacterial efficacy compared to pure ZnS NPs, with inhibition zones of 25.40 ± 2.02 mm against E. coli and 28.67 ± 2.04 mm against S. aureus, while pure ZnS NPs have inhibition zones of 11.6 ± 0.21 mm for E. coli and 10.1 ± 0.14 mm for S. aureus. The increase in the antibacterial activity is related to the synergistic combination of ZnS NPs and CDs, which is probably explained by the disruption of membranes and the high production of reactive oxygen species. These findings highlight the potential of using ZnS/CDs nanocomposites in biomedicine and antimicrobial applications.
A comprehensive study of colorless anthracene (Ant430) and two light-yellow tetracene-containing anthracene (Tetr@Ant; Ant470 and Ant500) crystals, obtained by isothermal evaporation of toluene at room temperature using precursors from different manufacturers, is performed. The substitution in Tetr@Ant structures is evidenced by the increase in unit cell parameters and distances between adjacent monolayers with increasing Tetr content and synthesis/experiment temperatures. Light-yellow Tetr@Ant crystals fluoresce turquoise (Ant470) and yellow-green (Ant500), indicating the presence of Tetr (higher in Ant500), which is undetected by X-ray diffraction analysis due to low concentration. TEM/EDX detected uncontrolled impurities (O, Si, N in Ant430; O, Si, N, Ca in Ant500; O, Si, N, Ca, Ti, Al in Ant470) are unevenly distributed in the crystal (confocal microscopy), which may affect the unit cell parameters. The method of molecular Voronoi–Dirichlet (VD) polyhedra applied to Ant470 (85 and 293 K) and Ant500 (100 K) showed the temperature behavior of Ant470, characteristic of nominally-pure anthracene crystals, and confirmed the possibility of a structural phase transition of anthracene in the temperature range from 220 to 259 K. The main contribution to the supramolecular binding of anthracene molecules is made by stabilizing C–H…π interactions (partial contribution, 52
