Examining the mechanism through which new-type urbanization influences high-quality agricultural development is a crucial research topic. It is essential for achieving comprehensive rural revitalization through urban-rural integration and for identifying effective pathways to modernize agriculture and rural areas. To sci-entifically examine the impact of the new-type urbanization pilot policy on high-quality agricultural develop-ment,this study employs a staggered Difference-in-Differences model on panel data from 262 prefecture-level cities from 2011 to 2022.The results show that new-type urbanization can significantly enhance agricultural green total factor productivity, with notable variations related to geographical location, functional zoning, and economic development levels.New-type urbanization policy facilitates high-quality agricultural development through three primary pathways:Narrowing the urban-rural income gap, promoting digital inclusive finance, and improving human capital. The findings of this study contribute to exploring regionally differentiated path-ways for advancing new-type urbanization and provide theoretical references for agricultural modernization ef-forts.
The village domain is the basic unit of social and economic activities in rural China, and an in-depth analysis of the mixed utilization characteristics of settlements and their multifunctional differentiated spa-tial patterns within the village can provide new perspectives for the study of rural development and transforma-tion in economically developed areas.By comparing the spatial and temporal characteristics of human activities carried by residential sites on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, this study constructs the evaluation indices for residence, employment, and consumption functions at the plot scale, and carries out empirical analysis with the help of location-based big data in the village of Luxiang,Suzhou City. The results show that:① The multi-functional types of the residential areas within the village cover residence, employment, consumption, and the combination of residence and consumption, among which the area of the composite functional plots ac-counts for nearly 40%,and the multi-functional utilization is at a relatively high level;② The spatial mapping analysis reflects that different functional spaces within the village area present differentiated characteristics, and the composite functional plots are concentrated in clusters in the core residence and consumption areas of the village.③ The combination and connection degree of nodes on the spatial mapping also vary, which is manifested as the diversity and heterogeneity of"function-structure"in different regions. The study can pro-vide a scientific basis for improving the quality and effectiveness of village planning compilation in the new era and enhancing the refined management level of rural residential land use.
As a strategically significant location, ecological highland, and economically underdeveloped area in China, the Qinling-Daba Mountain is characterized by pronounced contradictions in human-earth relation-ships,manifested in severe soil erosion, frequent geological disasters, excessive land exploitation.Based on remote sensing and geospatial data, this study employed the coupling coordination degree and the geographical-ly weighted regression(GWR)model to explore the spatio-temporal evolution and interaction mechanism of human-earth relationships in the Qinling-Daba Mountain areas of Southern Shaanxi. Results indicated that the population tended to concentrate in central urban areas, and vegetation coverage increased by 98%of the re-gion.During this period, cropland decreased by 4 103.06 km2,primarily converted into forest land,construc-tion land, and grassland.Over 60%of the study area presented low human activity intensity, while region with higher and high natural environment index accounted for more than 75%.The coupling degree and coordi-nation degree of the human-earth relationships exhibited a spatial distribution characterized by higher values in river valley basins and central urban areas, and lower values in the undulating mountainous regions to the north and south. There was an observable expansion in areas with low coupling and severe incoordination, while areas with higher coupling and mild incoordination showed a shrinking trend. The human-earth interac-tion exhibited significant temporal dynamics and spatial heterogeneity. The correlation between natural indica-tors and the proportion of cropland gradually declined over time, while the correlation with the proportion of construction land steadily strengthened.Only water yield and temperature were positively influenced by human activity intensity in regions exceeding 70%,whereas the remaining interaction relationships within the human-earth system were negatively impacted in areas above 50%.The findings of this study could offer valuable de-cision-making support for ecological conservation and high-quality economic development in Southern Shaanxi.
Land use change and its impact on habitat quality play a crucial role in the development of ecologi-cal civilization and the promotion of sustainable development in ecologically fragile regions.Taking the farm-ing-pastoral ecotone of Northern China as a case, this study analyzes land use change characteristics from 1980 to 2020 using a transition matrix. It also explores the spatio-temporal evolution of habitat quality by combining the In VEST model with hotspot analysis and quantifies the influence of land use change on habitat quality.Furthermore, the CA-Markov model is employed to simulate and predict the habitat quality status in 2040.The research has four results.① The main land use types in the farming-pastoral ecotone of Northern China are grassland, cultivated land, and forestland.During the study period, significant changes in land use patterns were observed, with the northeastern region being the area of concentrated land use change. The main charac-teristic of land use change is the mutual conversion between cultivated land and grassland. The changes in land use are marked by a reduction in grassland,a slight increase in cultivated land,a decrease in forestland and a significant increase in built-up land.② Habitat quality in the study area exhibits notable spatial varia-tion,with hotspots concentrated along the southern boundary and cold spots found in the northeastern and cen-tral regions. The overall habitat quality level is relatively low, with areas of low habitat quality being the most prevalent.③ The conversion of cultivated land to forest and unused land,as well as unused land to grassland, plays a crucial role in improving habitat quality, while the conversion of grassland to cultivated land leads to a decline in habitat quality.④ The CA-Markov model is suitable for simulating land use in the study area.By 2040,both built-up land and unused land in the study area are expected to increase.Habitat quality in the re-gion is predicted to decline, with low to medium habitats expanding and high quality habitat decreasing by 16,147.30 km2.Urgent protective measures are needed to enhance habitat quality. The findings provide theoreti-cal references for the sustainable development of land resources and ecological environmental protection in the farming-pastoral ecotone of Northern China.
Improving the security level of the water-energy-food(WEF)composite system is important for en-suring the rational allocation and utilization of resources and sustainable development of the irrigation area in the Lower Yellow River. The security level of the WEF system in the irrigation area of the Lower Yellow River from 2009 to 2023 was measured using five-element connection number, and the configuration path to improve the security level of the composite system was identified through fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis(fsQC A).The results showed that:①The security level of the food subsystem was the highest, transitioning from level Ⅲ to level Ⅳ,while the safety level of the energy subsystem was the lowest, overall in an unsafe state of level Ⅱ.②The overall composite system of the irrigation area in the Lower Yellow River is in a criti-cal state of level Ⅳ,and some cities and years are in an unsafe state of level Ⅱ.③There are a total of five configuration paths that can generate high security levels, each region needs to make measures based on its own development situation in the future.Studying the interactive relationship between various influencing fac-tors from a configuration perspective has to some extent promoted the transformation of security research on composite system from a single contingency perspective to a holistic multi-dimensional perspective. The re-search conclusion can provide theoretical basis and decision-making reference for the security development of the WEF system in the irrigation area of the Lower Yellow River.
