To evaluate the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of tuberculosis infection (TBI), as well as the occurrence of tuberculosis disease (TBD), in patients with chronic inflammatory arthritis (CIA) at the initiation of disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and through 12 months of follow-up. This real-life, prospective, multicenter, observational, study included patients classified as having rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) enrolled in the Pan-American League of Associations for Rheumatology (PANLAR) Registry of Rheumatic Diseases (PANRED). Data from 590 patients receiving targeted synthetic (ts), conventional synthetic (cs), or biologic (b) DMARDs were analyzed. Among the 590 participants, 460 (78.0
The relationship between anti-thrombospondin-1 antibodies (anti-TSP-1) and the clinical manifestations of Sjögren disease (SjD) has not been fully clarified. This study aimed to analyze the clinical relevance of anti-TSP-1 in SjD. Serum anti-TSP-1 antibody levels were detected by ELISA in 70 SjD patients and 21 healthy controls (HCs). Anti-TSP-1 antibody levels were significantly higher in SjD patients (10.63 ± 4.92 vs.7.64 ± 4.70, t = 2.403, P = 0.019). The positivity rates of anti-TSP-1 in SjD patients and HCs were 51.4
Treat-to-target management in axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is anchored on ASDAS-CRP, with low disease activity (LDA) defined as ASDAS-CRP < 2.1. Meeting this target, however, does not necessarily imply symptom resolution. We examined 12-month responsiveness across individual BASDAI items and described patient-reported residual symptom burden among patients who met ASDAS-LDA at 12 months. We conducted a retrospective analysis of a single-center, IRB-approved Saudi axSpA registry. Adults meeting ASAS classification criteria with complete BASDAI item assessments at baseline and 12 months were included. Changes in the six items were assessed using paired Wilcoxon signed-rank tests with false discovery rate correction and standardized response means. The prespecified primary endpoint was meeting a pragmatic, exploratory residual-symptom criterion, operationally defined as at least one BASDAI item score ≥ 4/10 at 12 months among patients meeting ASDAS-LDA; this threshold is not validated for individual BASDAI items. We also examined a ≥ 5/10 threshold, a prespecified targeted-therapy-exposure subset, baseline-context subgroups, a sensitivity analysis restricted to baseline ASDAS-CRP ≥ 2.1, and exploratory Firth penalized logistic associations, including a model refit after excluding patients classified as having fibromyalgia. Among 160 patients, baseline represented first targeted-therapy initiation for 134 (83.8
To evaluate the mean pain level during intra-articular injection (IAI) with corticosteroid and its associated variables. A cross-sectional study with adult patients with rheumatic diseases, joint swelling and pain > 1 month, receiving a single IAI of triamcinolone hexacetonide (TH). Joints were assessed for pain (VAS 0–10 cm), swelling, demographic data, disease type, fibromyalgia presence, joint size/type, and IAI variables (needle size, TH dose). Pain during IAI (VASIIA) was measured blindly. Joints were divided into High Pain Group (HPG, VASIIA > mean) and Low Pain Group (LPG, VASIIA ≤ mean). Comparisons used three analyses: full sample, excluding fibromyalgia, and a subgroup with VASIIA ≥ 7. 399 joints from 246 patients (mean age 63.6 years, 86.2
To evaluate the prevalence of Fibromyalgia (FM) in women with chronic pelvic pain (CPP) and to map the associated conditions that have been investigated. This review followed the International Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, with searches conducted across 8 databases, without time restrictions. Observational studies and clinical trials that included women aged ≥ 13 years with CPP and reported FM prevalence were included. Statistical analysis used a random-effects model in R software, with heterogeneity assessed through Cochran’s Q and Higgins’ I² statistics. Ten studies were included, encompassing 52,658 participants, predominantly from the United States, with cross-sectional designs and retrospective cohorts. The mean prevalence of FM was 10.3
