This chapter introduces the project and its aims and approach. In these pages, we also explore the origins of cultural governance, its evolution from corporate governance and its rationale as a means of revealing different practices. We also introduce the partners and the limitations of their selection. Furthermore, we introduce the study’s methodology and the five principles as a frame for examination. We are clear that our aim is to reveal different practices rather than test for hypotheses concerning whether any location adopts the principles. Finally, we provide details of the methods employed and the structure of the book. This chapter is important in establishing the journey of the project and its limitations. It also calls for further research that encourages other voices to emerge.
