The electromagnetic field distribution measurer includes a mechanism for tilting a specimen by 180 degrees wrt a tilt axis. The tilt axis is perpendicular to an optical axis of a focused electron beam. An electron beam position detector measures a direction and a quantity of deflection for the axis of the beam when it is transmitted through a measuring point on a specimen before and after the specimen is turned over.

The em field measurer is arranged to obtain the direction and intensity of electric and magnetic fields at the measuring point based on the measuring results. A display shows a scanning transmission electron microscope image generated by scanning the specimen.

USE/ADVANTAGE -Examining magnetic thin film. Allows independent observation of electric and magnetic fields; high precision and reliability.
