The suspension springing system consists of a mechanical pneumatic or hydropneumatic main spring which is linear and has a relatively high positive stiffness with limited spring movement. Parallel to the main spring (1) is a corrector spring of negative stiffness, consisting of two parts made up of permanent magnets.

One part is connected to a sprung mass while the other is connected to an unsprung mass. Both parts of the corrector spring consist of several permanent magnets one behind the other, with soft iron plates in between. The poles of neighbouring magnets are alike and their magnetic axes are parallel to the direction of movement. The soft iron plates take magnetic flux which is vertical to the direction of motion to bring the magnets into balance.

在一些实施例中,该作用力需要在大约3lbf(13.3N)和大约20lbf(89.0N)之间,或者在大约5lbf(22.2N)和大约15lbf(66.7N)之间,或者在大约7lbf(31.1N)和大约12lbf(53.4N)之间。
