When certain biochemical pathways or processes necessary for insect growth and development are regulated or inhibited, insecticides with growth-regulating characteristics (IGR) may have unfavorable effects on insects. Certain insects exposed to these substances may die as a result of aberrant hormone-mediated cell or organ development regulation. Some insects may perish as a result of either an aberrant termination of the embryonic stage itself or a prolonged exposure to other mortality causes (such as vulnerability to natural enemies, climatic circumstances, etc.) during the developing period. Insect growth regulators can be derived from plants or from a combination of synthetic and natural substances. Nowadays, research is being done on the chemical makeup of naturally occurring insect hormones, with the goal of creating analogs or mimics that will work against insects. The parallels, nevertheless, in some of biochemistry among vertebrates and invertebrates may result in the limited development of IGRs. Contamination of the environment also makes it difficult for businesses to produce substances that offer more ecologically or environmentally sound insect pest control. We considered using insect growth regulators instead of commercial insecticides as part of our ongoing search for novel, physiologically active compounds made from natural sources.
Peer review is being criticized for its sluggishness and review quality. Swiftly identifying available reviewers and cultivating a pool of specialized experts is crucial to avoid delays and ensure a seamless peer review process. A promising strategy to enhance the quality of peer reviewers is to encourage and facilitate early career researchers (ECRs) to engage in co-reviewing with their mentors as part of their curriculum training. In addition, it holds significant potential to bridge gaps in research quality and discourage unethical ghostwriting of peer review reports. Encouraging co-reviewing practices in medical, dental, nursing, and other professional institutions will foster the development of critical skills, research awareness, mentorship, and collaborative abilities among ECRs. This paper proposes learning peer review modules in a two-step model, i.e., foundational learning and practical learning. Emphasizing peer review within the curriculum can be a significant and transformative step.
This paper investigates the correlation of ResearchGate among the faculties of sciences in the central universities of North-East India using Altmetrics approaches. As more innovation is seen and the discipline is in its early stages, the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology is the primary study area. The study focuses primarily on faculty activities on the ResearchGate platform, which include frequency of publications, citations, research interest, number of followers and followings, and various publication formats. It has also sparked interest in determining the relationships between different ResearchGate metrics. According to the study, most faculties have good citation scores and an average number of publications. The survey analysis reveals a lack of awareness, concentration, and dedication to the development of the disciplines. The result of the investigation shall serve as a pathway for various future goals for selfimprovement.
The emergence of online learning has acquired the attention of learners and educators in the 21st century. The need has arisen especially when the world has suffered from the Covid-19 pandemic, the institutions of higher learning have come up with the latest technologies to combat the learning environment scenario. The present study mainly analysis the existing works of literature published on the topic of online learning which is abstracted from SpringerLink. The bibliometrics method of analyzing the data was adopted for the study. The study analysis the components such as the growth of literature,year-wise distribution, annual growth rate (AGR), compound annual growth rate (CAGR), relative growth rate (RGR), and doubling time (DT) of the publications authorship pattern and authors productivity of literature, Study the citation, altmetrics, download and access pattern of literature, the most prominent journals, publisher -wise, country -wise distribution of literature, most productive institutions and top -cited paper in the published literature on "online learning". The study shows that the highest number of publications can be noticed from the conference papers and there is a frequent rise in publications. The annual growth rate of the published literature is 533.34 in 2003 and the number of authors per publication on average was highest in 2017. The study shall contribute to examining the existing scenario of the published literature measurement on online learning and shall encourage more exciting researchers and academicians to work more in this specific field.
Retracted publications are the scholarly articles that have been withdrawn from publication by authors or journals due to errors, misconduct, or ethical concerns. The present study aims to identify and analyse retracted papers by Indian authors. The data was extracted from the Scopus and also checked from the Retraction Watch database along with the journal's website. The extracted data was analysed using MS Excel, Jamovi, and SPSS-21. The study examined the year-wise retraction rate, reasons for retraction, authorship patterns, time lag for retraction, and impact on citations after retraction. The results showed that while the number of retracted publications per year increased over time, the rate of retraction per 10K publications remained constant. Duplicate publication and plagiarism were the most common reasons for retraction. Approximately one-third of the publications were retracted within six months, and the retraction time decreased over the years, especially in open-access journals. The average number of citations per paper per year before and after retraction were nearly similar. This study could assist librarians and researchers in understanding retractions, avoiding their use, and being cautious when referencing them.
The integration of social media into libraries has become a popular worldwide trend, offering the potential to improve services and increase user participation. This literature review explores the benefits, challenges, and barriers experienced by libraries during social media integration. A comprehensive search was conducted, and the literature was synthesized by breaking it down into various titles, findings, and key takeaways. The findings reveal that social media integration in libraries is beneficial and increases user engagement. However, financial constraints, lack of competent personnel, and lack of policies were identified as barriers to successful integration. Based on these findings, a conceptual framework for successfully integrating social media into libraries is proposed that involves four steps: 1) study, 2) adoption, 3) implementation, and 4) interaction that comprehend identifying library goals, assessing resources, developing a social media strategy, creating and implementing policies, and evaluating performance that will lead to enhanced user engagement.
COVID-19 undoubtedly brought about drastic and dramatic change in library service delivery. Libraries adopted several strategies to ensure that their services were continuously offered without significant interruptions. Consequently, this article focused on reshaping libraries after the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlighted the impact of the pandemic on libraries and library professionals. With the adjustment in the pattern of service delivery, the article also examined the new normal caused by the pandemic and possible barriers to adapting to this new normal. The library services, innovations, and experiences of libraries and their professionals during the pandemic were critically examined. The future of libraries is also discussed after the analysis of experts’ predictions put forward in various forms.
ABSTRACTABSTRACTPredatory publishing is the unethical and dishonest behavior of publishers who take advantage of researchers by charging them too much money and not providing good editing and peer-review services. Scholars, publishers and policymakers are seeking solutions to combat predatory publishing, which has become a major academic problem. This research paper provides a bibliometric analysis of the citation patterns and trends in the predatory publishing literature. The study analyzed the 100 top-cited papers on predatory publishing and provided insight into the types of documents, journals, authors, and countries that contributed to this field. The average citation per paper in the top 100 selected publications was 53.67. Open-access publications received a significantly higher average citation per paper than subscription-based papers. "Article" was the major type of document published, followed by "Notes," "Reviews" and "Editorials." Nature and Learned Publishing were the journals that contained the highest number of top-cited articles. J. Beall and D. Moher authored the highest number of papers, while A. Grudniewicz had the highest average citation per paper. USA and Canada were the top countries in these top-cited publications. Allelopathy Journal is the official publication of ‘Allelopathy Books’ that promotes allelopathy research and publish researches related to plant sciences and health sciences. This study aimed to present an insight about the researches published in this journal, to help the Authors, Readers and Editorial team to understand the journal in depth. We analyzed the scholarly publications published in the Allelopathy Journal, their Citations, focussing on other aspects such as Publication output, Citation analysis, Co-authorship patterns, Collaboration networks, Research productivity, Research topics and International collaboration. This study is useful to identify emerging trends and evaluate research impact. The data for the study was extracted from the Scopus Database for the period from 1996 to 2022. The results showed that the journal has published 1209 papers during this period, which received 9826 citations with an average of 8.13 citations per paper. F.Z. Wu was the most prolific author with 22 papers receiving 127 citations and Prof. S.S. Narwal, with second highest papers in the journal, received the highest number of citations (242). China was the most productive country with 425 papers in the journal, followed by India (243 papers). The Chinese Academy of Sciences was the most productive institute in the journal and published 67 papers with 678 citations. A total of 4870 authors have appeared in 1209 papers with 0.91 degree of collaboration and a collaboration index of 4.03. Thematic maps indicated that the topics represented by keywords such as "Distribution", "Habitat", "Essential Oil", “Lettuce", "Morphology," have potential importance for future research.
The paper discusses the various facets of Google Lens to understand how Google Lens can replace traditional techniques of library services and to use Google Lens in the libraries and information centers for providing information to the users and even enhanced and enriched outreach services. The study has employed qualitative analysis of the literature and observation that seeks to understand the application of Google Lens for ensuring the better services to patrons and to put forward the authors perceptions based on observation and experience. The findings showed the power of Google Lens, the benefits of Google Lens over traditional procedures, the benefits of Google Lens in enhancing information services, and created awareness among information professionals and users regarding the use of Google Lens as a single search platform for the required resources. This study lays focus on certain areas where Google Lens can be used. While the scope of paper is restricted to explaining how Google Lens can promote the level of customer-oriented services for user communities, but the very advantage of this study is to express the usefulness of Google Lens for quick and accessible spread of information.
Business Information Systems (BIS) is a professional discipline that combines Computer Science, Management, and Business Administration. In this article the researchers evaluate the evolution of BIS curriculum in terms of its past, present and future, considering its historical background, the existing strengths and weaknesses, and how it can be developed to meet market needs. The study reveals the skills required by a BIS graduate and highlights how the existing/existed BIS curricula have made their graduates weaker when compared with Computer Science and Business Administration specialists. The research further compares the existential crisis of BIS with Library and Information Science (LIS) discipline, which have also faced a similar controversial crisis concerning their disciplinary boundaries, whether it belong to Social and Behavioral Sciences or Computer Science and Engineering and yet succeeded in its growth and contributions. This research concludes that the BIS curriculum is still budding and needs to be re-evaluated and updated regularly to meet the changing demands of the market highlighting the need for collaboration between academia and industry to ensure that BIS graduates are equipped with the skills that employers require. The study examined university teachers’ digital literacy in Nigeria’s south-south geopolitical region. The descriptive survey approach was used, and three research questions served as the study’s direction. Data were gathered via an online questionnaire. SPSS version 23 was used to calculate the mean and standard deviation after frequency counts and simple percentages were used to evaluate the data while the independent t-test was used to test the hypothesis. The online survey was distributed to 200 faculty members, and 91 of them fill it out, yielding a 46% response rate. The sample for the study consisted of 91 lecturers who answered the online survey. Two measurement and evaluation specialists and two experts in digital technology evaluated the questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha was employed to determine the instrument’s dependability, and the result was 0.74. The results showed that university lecturers possess high levels of both fundamental and multidimensional digital competence. The survey found that among the difficulties experienced by university teachers in acquiring digital skills were a lack of opportunity for information and communication technology (ICT) training, the high cost of ICT literacy training, inadequate ICT facilities, and a lack of sponsorship. Lastly, the outcome of the hypothesis test indicates that there is no statistically substantial difference in the levels of digital competence between male and female university lecturers. Based on their findings, the researchers suggested that university administrators set up digital skills training for university faculty members as well as assistance and incentives to promote development of digital abilities. The government should be dedicated to education overall by investing adequate finances for teacher training, infrastructural development, and enhanced welfare programs to deliver excellent university education in this digital era.
Population growth causes a rise in human activity, which in turn increases pollution levels. Both human actions and rapid economic industrialization are likely to result in increasing air pollution. This became one of the strong reasons for deteriorating health index in India. The government must take the important steps towards predicting air quality and real-time weather monitoring to ensure good air quality index in country. Today the industries are focusing towards smart and efficient technologies like $\text{IoT}$ and Machine Learning to solve these real-life problems. In this paper sensor-based system to predict air quality and weather monitoring is proposed which uses Arduino RP2040 microcontroller board as the heart of system. It uses Artificial Neural Network (ANN) machine learning model and TensorFlow lite library for predicting the air quality and displaying the real-time weather information. The model is trained using dataset taken from IQAir website for one region and tested using real-time sensory collected data from multiple sensors like BMP180, DHT22 and PM2.5 sensor. The overall efficiency of systems comes out to be 85.27%. In future, model will be trained using dataset of multiple regions over a period to further improve the accuracy of the proposed system.
The purpose of the present study is to provide the insight into media literacy awareness and practice among under-graduate students of Arts and Science disciplines at Pachhunga University College, Aizawl, followed by the emphasis on student's skills of using the application of various media platforms for academic purposes. The random (purpo-sive) sampling method has been used for collecting the required information. Many research studies have been con-ducted in the past with information literacy as the primary research topic. However, a review of the literature revealed that just a few studies have been conducted using media literacy as a primary focus. Consequently, this research contributes new knowledge to this less explored area of research. Paper concludes with suggestions to strengthen the awareness of media literacy among users.
The concept of Open Educational Resources (OER) is a topic of growing interest for researchers as a powerful contribution to improving the quality and openness of the education system. The goal of this particular research is to review the literature on the concept of 'Open Educational Resources (OER)' through bibliometric lens, published by SpringerLink for the past one decade. The study provides a detailed concept and definition of open educational resources and review of related literature. The bibliographic details were retrieved from SpringerLink database (https://link.springer.com) by using keywords such as 'open educational resources,' 'OER'. The bibliographical details of 1824 literatures published were recorded in MS-Excel 2019 sheet. The paper shows that during the period of 2011-2020, different categories of literature were published and Chapter has occupied the most literature published by Springer Link. The present paper also reveals the year-wise growth, authorship pattern, author productivity, most productive journals, highest contributed institutions and geographical distribution of the research output. The Annual Growth Rate (AGR), Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), Relative Growth Rate (RGR), Doubling Time of literature followed by the indicators such as degree of collaboration; collaborative index and collaboration coefficient have been calculated and presented.
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to understand the use of social media by patients for health-related purposes. Methods: A scoping review of 53 studies have been made to derive the findings. Data Sources: Article have been obtained from three data sources i.e. PubMed, Google Scalar, and J Store, which are published during the period 2009-2019. Fifty - three articles are selected after the screening of abstracts, titles, and full text of 2165 publications. Results: The study of the literature found that: (i) Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs, and online health communities are popular among patients for seeking and sharing information. Health-related social media platforms such as PatientsLikeMe, Netwellness and MDTalks are also in use by patients. (ii) Patients use social media for seeking information about a disease and its treatment, searching experience of other patients, looking for a support group, seeking emotional support, sharing personal health stories, sharing information about medicines/instruments, seeking and posting reviews and looking for side effects of medicines. Conclusion: Social media provides a connecting link to the public, patients, and health professionals to communicate about health issues. The possibility and potential of improving health have considerably enhanced.
This paper uses the h-index for the perusal of the profile pictures of researchers who have been awarded the Noble Prize in Chemistry from 1901 till 2021. In the present study, the publication data of 49 Nobel Laureates in the Chemistry discipline has been analyzed where the citation data from the Scopus database is considered. The h-index has been preferred to the impact factor and other Scientometric metrics because of their selective coverage and the disadvantages that researchers publishing several papers face. The Scopus database has been preferred over Google Scholar and Web of Science (WoS) as the source of data for this particular study because it is more popular among researchers. The present paper is an attempt to examine the profile of Nobel Laureates in the Chemistry discipline since the inception of the awards till 2021 using the h-Index (Hirsch Index) using data available in the Scopus database. The study is unique in itself as to the best of our knowledge it is the first attempt at creating a profile of Nobel Laureates using the h-index in any discipline and the study will open the path for scholars to conduct further research in this particular area.
The impact of the work of any researcher is vital for a variety of reasons. While it helps the universities to decide the appointment of researchers in the position of faculty, it also helps the funding organizations to decide on the funding of their research works. Further, the impact helps the award-giving institutions, like the Nobel Committee to decide whether or not to confer awards to the researchers. Though a variety of indexes help the organizations and students of scientometry to gauge the impact of any researcher, the Hirsch index (h-index) is the most popular of the various metrics. The hindex is calculated based on the number of citations the scientific productions of the researchers have received from other future researchers as also the number of scientific documents produced by them. With the dataset comprising of Nobel Laureates in Chemistry from 2014 till 2019, this study attempts to correlate the number of citations and the number of documents with the h-index. The level of correlation of the independent variables with the h-index has also been assessed as a part of this study. This study has observed that both the number of citations and the number of scientific productivity have a direct correlation with the h-index though the number of citations is a better fit. This study has also observed the validity of Yong's formula.
