Jedermann ist in der Lage, irgend etwas uber die Sprache auszusagen. Jedermann weiss aber, wie schwer es ist, die methodologische Lage des Sprechenden zu analysieren, falls er fur sich und seine Aussagen Glaubwurdigkeit voraussetzt und verlangt. Die Lage ist namlich so, dass man ohne Hypothesen nicht auskommen kann. Es kann namlich nichts aus dem Nichts herausgesprochen werden. Jede vorgangige Annahme, ob bewusst oder unbewusst, ob ausgesprochen oder nicht, ist aber mit einer hypothetischen Voraussetzung gleichbedeutend. Nun weiss man auch, wie leicht es ist, eine Anfangssituation mit irrtumlichen oder willkurlichen Hypothesen zu belasten. Ich will deshalb mit ganz einfachen, mit elementar pruf baren Betrachtungen beginnen. Ubrigens ist es fraglich, ob ich mich selbst ausschalten kann, wenn ich wahrhaft im Sinne habe, uber irgend einen Sprechenden zu sprechen. Ich will deshalb bei mir selbst beginnen. Als erstes ist Folgendes festzustellen : die Kundgebung dieser Absicht genugt, um mich in eine sehr undurchsichtige Situation zu versetzen. Um irgend etwas uber mich selbst als Sprechenden aussprechen zu konnen, muss ich von vornherein im Besitz einer gewissen Sprache sein. Das ist keine letzte, wohl aber eine unausweichliche Feststellung. Wurde ich versuchen, sie weiter zu begrunden, so wurde die gleiche Vorbedingung immer neu entstehen ; ich musste mich dazu einer geeigneten Sprache bedienen. In diesem Augenblick spreche ich uber mich selbst, uber meine eigene Lage. Es ist aber klar, dass die eben gemachte Feststellung nicht nur fur mich allein gilt.
