This article describes an example of nursing professional development (NPD) environmental scanning by gap analysis at the Aspire Convention to determine the learning needs related to NPD certification. The authors led an educational podium presentation that included soliciting feedback about NPD certification through formative assessment. Utilizing active learning strategies, participants were then guided through performing an NPD certification Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats analysis. Results supported the existence of knowledge gaps on the significance, value, and impact of NPD certification.
In 2019, the Association for Nursing Professional Development convened volunteers to create an advanced certification in nursing professional development. This article details the processes used and lessons learned by participants in the process. The Nursing Professional Development Advanced-Board Certified credential was launched by the Competency and Credentialing Institute in 2021.

The salient question is no longer are we prepared, but rather, how do we continue to address the pandemic head on, remain resilient, and emerge even stronger tomorrow? In this next series, we will draw attention to the importance of individual safety, interprofessional team preparedness, and healthcare system resilience. We will explore the importance of recognizing ethical viewpoints and often
