Memetics reveals the law of language development.The replication and transmission of language memes provide a quick and an effective way to enrich human languages and a new perspective on foreign language teaching.This paper explores the teaching of College English writing that memetics can shed a new light upon.Having analyzed the two ways for memes to be replicated and transmitted:memetic genotype - the same core content inherited in various language forms,and memetic phenotype - the identical set pattern of language followed by different contents,the author holds that these could be applied to the teaching of College English writing course.
