My general research interest is centered around Linked Data and concerns large-scale interoperation in hyperlinked networked systems. I study methods that allow for the modelling and integration of behaviour (i.e., computation), similar to what ontologies allow for the modelling and integration of data.
In existing approaches, modelling the dynamics of a system serves as basis for gathering requirements and writing programs; specification and implementation are separate steps. In contrast, I seek an approach that allows for the modelling of dynamical behaviour in specifications that can be executed directly in hyperlinked networked environments without involving a manual programming step. Such an approach is based on mathematical logic (rules) and has broad application potential in cyber-physical systems and cyber-human systems, for example smart energy grids ("Internet of Things" and "Web of Things") or mixed-reality systems for industrial product design ("Industrie 4.0").
