Zeeshan A. Rana received the B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, Pakistan, in 2000, the M.Sc. degree in manufacturing information systems from the University of West of England, Bristol, U.K., in 2003, and the Ph.D. degree in computational engineering from Cranfield University, Cranfield, U.K., in 2011. He has several years of industrial and academic experience in the vision-based system. His focus has been on the development of complex algorithms for various engineering applications including stereo vision-based inspection of cosmetically sensitive surfaces. In the Cranfield, he has been the Option Leader for the M.Sc. degree of Computer and Machine Vision and teaches various modules related to the topic. He is currently the Principal Investigator on research projects in the area of computer vision and AI, such as object tracking, drone detection using stereo vision, and sign language identification using computer vision. He has provided consultancy work to the industry on various projects and recently won funding from the Department of Transport for research in the area of small UAV detection using stereo vision. Dr. Rana is a Fellow of HEA, a member of IET, a Course Director of the M.Sc. course, and a reviewer of high-impact international journals.
