个人简介
Xiaolong Wei received the bachelor’s degree in geophysics from the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Beijing, China, in 2015, the master’s degree in geology from Northwest University, Xi’an, China, in 2018, and the Ph.D. degree in geophysics from the University of Houston, Houston, Tx, USA, in 2022. His doctoral dissertation has made innovative contributions to airborne gravity and magnetic methods of quantifying subsurface uncertainties and exploring minerals.
He is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA. He is a member of the Stanford Mineral-X and SCERF. He focuses on addressing significant challenges associated with critical mineral exploration and leading to a step change in the discovery of new mineral deposits using geophysical (joint) inversion and geostatistics. He has extensive experience with real field case studies. He has explored for niobium in Elk Creek, Nebraska, metagabbro in North-East Iowa, diamond in the Northwest Territories, copper–gold in the Quest, British Columbia, and nickel–cobalt–copper in the Mufulira, Zambia.
Dr. Wei was a recipient of the Lucien LaCoste and John R. Butler Jr. Scholarships from SEG and the Dan E. Wells Outstanding Dissertation Award from the University of Houston. He chaired the Mining or Gravity and Magnetic Sessions at the IMAGE in 2021, 2022, and 2023. He is a passionate volunteer in the community. He has been a Peer Reviewer for Solid Earth, Geophysics, GJI, Geophysical Prospecting, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, Geocarto International, and SEG conference proceedings.
