Lidow, Alex

Alexander Lidow received the B. S. degree in applied physics from California Institute of Technology in 1975 and the Ph. D. degree in applied physics from Stanford University as a Hertz Foundation Fellow. He has been with International Rectifier Corporation, El Segundo, CA, since 1977. He served as the Semiconductor Division's Vice President-Research and Development beginning in July 1979, was promoted to Semiconductor Division Executive Vice President-Manufacturing and Technology in March 1985, and became the President of the Electronic Products Division in July 1989. In February 1992, he was elected Executive Vice President of Operations. He was elected a director in September 1994 and Chief Executive Officer in March 1995. He serves on the Board of Overseers of RAND Corporation and on the Board of Trustees of the California Institute of Technology. A co-inventor of the HEXFET power MOSFET, he holds nine patents on power semiconductor technology and has numerous publications on related subjects. Dr. Lidow is a member of the Electrochemical Society and Tau Beta Pi.
