Ali Emre Turgut received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in mechanical engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, in 1996 and 2000, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Kovan Research Laboratory, METU, in 2008. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Universite Libre de Bruxelles, IRIDIA, Brussels, Belgium, and as a Research Associate with the Department of Biology, KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium, from 2008 to 2012. In 2013, he worked as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, University of Aeronautical Association of Turkey, Ankara. He is currently working as a Research Associate with the Laboratory of Socioecology and Social Evolution, KU Leuven. He started working with Mechanical Engineering Department, METU, as an Assistant Professor in 2015.
