Bio
Dr Rastegarpanah is senior robotic researcher at the Faraday Institution who is leading the robotics team at RELIB project with the focus on automating the process of disassembly and testing the state of health of the Lithium-ion batteries using advanced robotics and AI techniques.
Dr Alireza Rastegarpanah is an interdisciplinary engineer with diverse research interests broadly centres on robotics, physical human-robot interaction, machine vision, machine learning and robotic manipulation.
After receiving his MSc and PhD in robotics from the University of Birmingham, he pursued his research interests by joining the Extreme Robotics Laboratory (ERL), as Research Fellow, in 2016. He worked on an EPSRC project called “Machine-learning of vision-guided bi-manual grasps, for adaptable autonomous manipulation in manufacturing environments”. In 2017 he started working as Research Fellow with the Centre for Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology at the University College London (UCL) and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
Dr Rastegarpanah re-joined the Extreme Robotics Lab in 2018 to work on a project called “Recycling of Lithium-Ion Batteries (RELIB)” funded by the Faraday Institution. He is actively involved in applied robotics projects with industry. He is currently have funded collaborations with industrial robotics industry, manufacturing industry and automotive insurance groups.
