Bernd Mueller-Roeber is Professor in molecular biology at the Department of Molecular Biology, University of Potsdam, Germany. He is also Head of Cooperative Research Group “Plant Signalling” at the Max Planck Institute od Molecular Plant Physiology, Potsdam-Golm. Since the establishment of the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB), Prof. Dr. Mueller-Roeber is the Head of Department Plant Development at CPSBB.
Current research interests are plant transcription factors and gene regulatory networks, plant aging and senescence, mechanisms of abiotic stress tolerance, priming in model and crop plants and plant biotechnology. Since 2013, Prof. Dr. Mueller-Roeber is also leading synthetic biology research, focusing on the development of new approaches for high-throughput multi-gene assemblies for synthetic biology applications and the development of synthetic transcription factors and gene regulatory networks in microbial organisms (S. cerevisiae) and plants. Prof. Dr. Mueller-Roeber co-heads the International Max Planck Research School ´Primary Metabolism and Plant Growth´ (IMPRS-PMPG), jointly run by the MPI of Molecular Plant Physiology and the University of Potsdam since 2007.
