Bijoy Kundu received the Ph.D. degree in nuclear physics from the Bhabha Atomic Research Center, India, in 1998. He did 3 years of postdoctoral research with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and the Institute of Physics in India. He also spent three months as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the International Center of Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy. He is an Assistant Professor of Research, Department of Radiology, University of Virginia, Charlottesville. He joined the Department of Systems and Information Engineering (SIE) as a Research Assistant in 2001 where he carried out his work on clustering and classification of defect patterns on semiconductor wafers. He joined the Department of Radiology, University of Virginia, as a Research Associate in 2002. In 2007, he was promoted to an Assistant Professor of Research. Dr. Kundu is currently a member of the Academy of Molecular Imaging, Society of Nuclear Medicine, and American Association of Physicists in Medicine. In 2007, he won the Siemens New Point of View pre-clinical image of the year. He is currently a co-investigator on numerous grants and PI on a number of pending grant applications.
