His research interests include artificial intelligence, multi-agent systems, game theory, automated negotiation, resource allocation, and optimization. He has published over 30 referred papers at top conferences (e.g., AAMAS, IJCAI, and AAAI) and journals (e.g., JAAMAS, IEEE Transactions). He has served as program committee members for many top conferences (e.g., AAMAS, AAAI, IJCAI) and was co-chair for some key international conferences/symposia. He was invited into China's 1,000 Young Talents Program. He is the recipient of the 2010 IFAAMAS (International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems) Victor Lesser Distinguished Dissertation Award. He won an Operational Excellence Award from the Commander, First Coast Guard District of the United States. He also won the Best Innovative Application Paper award at the 11th International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (AAMAS’2012). Recently, he won the 2012 INFORMS Daniel H. Wagner Prize for Excellence in Operations Research Practice.
