Borislav L. Ivanov was born in Mezdra, Bulgaria, in 1961. He received the M.S. degree in chemical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in materials/physical chemistry from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1986 and 1994, respectively. Since 2009, he has been a Research Associate Professor with the Department of Physics and the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, USA. His main research interests and experiences include laser-materials interactions, materials chemistry, laser materials chemistry, materials science, laser-tissue interactions, LCVD, CVD, PECVD, MOCVD, SEM with EDAX, Raman, FTIR, powder XRD, microelectronics, diamond deposition, plasma etching, RIE, FIB, and microfluidics and sensors. He has published over 61 articles and holds four patents in these areas of research. He is a member of the American Chemical Society.
