I am an Assistant Professor at University College Dublin in the School of Computer Science. I research computing education, particularly the research areas listed to the right.

I am the recipient of one of five Irish National Forum Teaching and Learning Research Fellowships, Ireland’s most prestigious national individual teaching and learning awards in higher education.

I am thrilled to be Vice-Chair of the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE) Board for the 2022-2025 term. SIGCSE is the second-oldest and third-largest of 37 ACM Special Interest Groups. I am also excited to be serving on the Steering Committee for the CS 2023 ACM/IEEE Computer Society/AAAI Computer Science Curricula 2023. I am very proud to be serving as Chair of the Steering Committee for the new ACM Global Computing Education Conference (CompEd), and to be serving on the Steering Committee of the ACM Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education Conference (ITiCSE). I am also an Associate Editor at ACM Transactions on Computing Education (TOCE). I am the founding Chair of SIGCSEire, the Ireland ACM SIGCSE Chapter which in a short time has grown to be the second-largest of 7 SIGCSE Chapters with well over 225 members. I have participated in 6 Dagstuhl Seminars and led 3.

I have published well over 125 papers since 2016, almost exclusively in Computing Education, and have received 9 best paper and 2 best presentation awards at venues such as ACM ICER, the ACM Technical Symposium.
