个人简介
Bruce D. Minsky received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1982. He completed his residency in radiation therapy at the Harvard Joint Center for Radiation Therapy in 1986.
Dr. Minsky spent the first 20 years of his career at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). He became the Vice-chairman of Radiation Oncology at MSKCC (2000-2007) and Professor of Radiation Oncology in Medicine at Cornell University (2009). Dr. Minsky was highly respected as an outstanding clinician and clinical research investigator on the gastrointestinal cancer multi-disciplinary team at MSKCC. He made significant new contributions to the clinical management of esophageal and rectal cancer. In recognition for his work in the development of neoadjuvant therapy for rectal cancer Dr. Minsky was awarded an honorary medical degree in 2004 from Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen, Germany.
He moved to the University of Chicago in 2007 and served as a Professor of Radiation and Cellular Oncology and Associate Dean in the Biological Sciences Division. Dr. Minsky continued his involvement with clinical research, teaching and patient care. As a reflection of his excellent teaching of residents in radiation oncology, he received the AARO Educator of the Year award for 2009-2010. His primary focus at the University of Chicago, however, was hospital administration. As the Chief Quality Officer for the University of Chicago Hospitals, he created a metric based, faculty driven clinical quality program to meet the challenges of the new pay for performance reimbursement system.
Dr. Minsky joined MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) in April 2012 as Professor and Director of Clinical Research in Radiation Oncology. In September 2012, he was asked to also serve as Deputy Division Head of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Minsky continues to be an active clinician and clinical research investigator on the MDACC GI Cancer multidisciplinary team.
He is widely published in the area of GI oncology and is an editorial board member of several journals. He has given extensive intramural and extramural service to radiation oncology and clinical oncology, as noted in the prior biography. This includes having served on the Board of Directors of both ASTRO and ASCO. In 2013 he became an honorary member of ESTRO.
