Charles R. Vanderburg

Charles R. Vanderburg received the B.S. degree in biochemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, in 1978, the M.S. degree in immunology from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, in 1983, and the Ph.D. degree in cell and molecular biology from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Stratford, in 1989. He was a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. He is currently Director of the Department of Neurology and Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston. He is the author or coauthor on a wide range of neurological disorders including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, autism, and bipolar disorder. His research interests include the microgenomic and microproteomic profiling of human neuropathological tissue specimens and their derivatives including miRNAs and exosomes, and with a focus on developing artifact-control methodologies for such samples, his laboratory is actively investigating novel bioinformatic strategies and technologies.
