Bio
His research interest is in kinematics, dynamics, and design of machines and robotic mechanical systems with a focus on mechanism synthesis, theoretical and computational kinematics, force balancing, reconfiguration mechanisms, and in particular their applications to the design problems where the motion and force of a machine or robotic system are to be jointly synthesised. He has intensive multidisciplinary research and industrial collaboration experience encompassing the innovative design for industrial robots and biomechanical systems with applications in medical devices, assistive technologies, and surgical robotics. He received several prestigious domestic and international awards including the ASME Freudenstein/General Motors Young Investigator Award, the only recipient from Asian affiliation so far since the award was established in 1996, and the Ta-You Wu Memorial Award, the most distinguished award in Taiwan in recognising the excellence in scientific and technological research of junior faculty in all disciplines.
