Research Interests
Peptides and proteins are the true products of genes that are governing the biological systems through a complex network of interactions and reactions. By using chemical approaches, we are able to reproduce and modify these bioactive molecules to understand the biological systems and to develop novel therapeutics against different diseases. Peptides and proteins can also be conjugated to other organic molecules or existing drugs to induce synergistic effects or enhance the drugs' targeting specificity. Within the board applications of peptides and proteins, we are particularly interested in the following topics.
Development of peptide-conjugated photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy.
Development of peptide-based antimicrobial therapeutics.
Design and engineering of synthetic antibodies.
Design and synthesis of multifunctional macromolecules.
