Constantine Tarabanis

In an attempt to obtain a wide range of research skills and experiences, I have been involved in a broad range of projects ranging from basic/translational to outcomes to tissue engineering to AI/machine learning research. As an undergraduate student I worked at Dr. Anna Greka’s laboratory investigating the therapeutic benefit of TRPC5 inhibition in in vitro podocyte models of proteinuric kidney disease. This research work now serves as the scientific basis for an ongoing phase 1 clinical trial by the Boston-based company Goldfinch bio. Early in medical school I honed my statistical skills by working on procedural outcomes research projects. In the third year of medical school, I committed to a year of research in cardiovascular medicine. During this time, I worked at Dr. Elliot Chaikof’s laboratory investigating methods for tissue engineering collagen-based arterial substitutes. As a resident, I shifted my focus back to outcomes research taking an interest in artificial intelligence approaches to predictive modeling. Currently, I am working with Dr. Lior Jankelson on creating explainable machine learning prediction models for in-hospital mortality after a myocardial infarction.
