Bio
David Moloney received the B.Eng. degree from Dublin City University (DCU), Dublin, Ireland, in 1985, and the Ph.D. degree from Trinity College, Dublin, in 2010, for his research in high-performance computer architectures.
He is the Director of machine vision with Intel Corporation, Dublin. He has worked in the semiconductor industry since qualifying with a B.Eng. degree. He has a wealth of international experience having worked for Infineon, Munich, Germany, for five years and STMicroelectronics (STM), Milan, Italy, for four years. He co-founded Movidius as CTO in 2005 which went on to pioneer low-power embedded vision and neural network processing in edge devices before being acquired by Intel in November 2016. He is a (co-)inventor of over 36 issued patents and has (co)authored over 32 conference/journal articles. His research interests include SoC and embedded processor design, deep-learning hardware, computer vision, robotics, and navigation.
