Bio
Dimitrios G. Katehakis (S'88–M'93) was born in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, in 1968. He received the Diploma from the Technical University of Patras, Patras, Greece, in 1991, and the M.S. degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1993, both in electrical engineering.
He was with the Medical School, University of Maryland, Baltimore, for Project IONDT (U.S. Federal) and Project MCR (MD State, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, CDC). He was also with the National Defense Ministry of Greece and the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE). He is currently a Senior Telecommunications Engineer at the Biomedical Informatics Laboratory, Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology–Hellas, Heraklion, Greece. He has participated in several European RTD projects including RETRANSPLANT (DGXIII—Health Telematics), TEMeTeN (DGXVI—RISI 2), HECTOR (DGXIII—Health Telematics), and PICNIC (IST-1999-10345). His current research interests include data integration analysis and the development of the appropriate Healthcare Information Infrastructure (HII) required for the provision of advanced health information network services.
Mr. Katehakis is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
