Bio
A strong part of the research activities focused on the design of new conditionings of biopolymers and their composites (including encapsulation properties) for applications in the field of metal and dyes removal, supported catalysis and antimicrobial supports. Apart conventional synthetic resins, a strong attention is paid to the design of advanced materials based on renewable resources (fungal and algal biomass, chitosan and alginate biopolymers). More recently, the unique properties of biopolymers offered promising perspectives for developing environmentally friendly materials having fire retardant and insulating properties (closed cell foams) or highly percolating membranes (open cell foams).
