个人简介
The research interests of my group are centered on structure-based drug discovery for tropical diseases. Most of our work is medicinal chemistry for hit-to-lead and lead optimization in the drug discovery process. We also develop organic synthesis methodologies, as well as engage in generic protein-targeted based screening activities. We collaborate with structural biologists and medical experts to develop low cost and effective therapeutics for neglected tropical diseases, such as malaria, sleeping sickness, Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, cryptosporidiosis, and toxoplasmosis.
Current projects include:
Developing inhibitors of methionyl-tRNA synthetase for treating sleeping sickness, Chagas disease, cryptosporidiosis, and bacterial infections.
Optimizing inhibitors of calcium-dependent protein kinase 1 to discover drugs for cryptosporidiosis and toxoplasmosis.
Designing selective inhibitors of n-myristoyltransferase to treat Cryptosporidium infections.
