I am a Ramon y Cajal & Ikerbasque Research Fellow at Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience. We study how neurodegeneration alters the brain extracellular matrix, and how this process affects tissue homeostasis. We also explore matrix manipulation as a disease-modifying strategy, either by increasing clearance through the extracellular space or by modulating glial physiology using the matrix as a signal. We mostly use in vivo, ex vivo and 3D-in vitro models and fluorescence microscopy.
