In our Lab, we investigate the roles played by hormonal factors on the regulation of brain cognitive functions in normal, pathological and aging conditions.
The overall research goals are:
- To determine additional hormonal signaling pathways regulating brain cognitive and metabolic functions
- To identify the molecular and cellular mechanisms mediating hormonal regulation of brain functions
- To explore the causality between hormonal imbalances and the decline of cognitive functions during aging.
We are currently using an interdisciplinary approach that combines mouse genetics, cellular and molecular methodologies, local brain stereotactic injections, adenoviral-based gene downregulation, primary neuronal cells-based assays, and behavioral/metabolic analyses.
