个人简介
Frank is an Associate Professor in Fermentation and Cell Culture at the UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering. He is an Associate Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (AMIChemE), and a Member of the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) where he served as member on the Biotechnology Committee (2012-2016).
Frank’s research is focused on modelling, engineering and scale-up/down of fermentation, cell culture and biocatalytic processes. In collaboration with Professor Gary Lye, he pioneered the use of microwell-based techniques to acquire information about fermentation and bioconversion. His research demonstrated the feasibility of predictive scale up from micro/mini reactors to lab scale reactors using established methods. In recognition for his contributions to this area he received the Pharmaceuticals Division Plenary Award of the AIChE (2010). These technologies have also been applied to algal cultivation with Prof. Saul Purton (UCL Structural and Molecular Biology).
