Gianluca Fontanesi

Gianluca Fontanesi (Graduate Student Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in telecommunication engineering from the Politecnico of Milan, Milan, Italy, in 2009 and 2012, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the RF and Microwave Group, University College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland, in 2022, under the joint-supervision of Prof. Anding Zhu and Dr. Hamed Ahmadi. He has several years of industrial experience, focused on the development and testing of wireless systems and air-to-ground communication. During his Ph.D., he was also a member of the EIRSAT-1 project that aims to launch Ireland’s first satellite and is led by students with the University College Dublin as part of the ESA Fly Your Satellite! Programme. His current research interests include future wireless networks, focusing on UAV aided wireless networks and potential applications of machine learning techniques. Mr. Fontanesi is a Reviewer for several journals of the IEEE, including the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Communication Letters, and IEEE Access. He is a member of COST INTERACT.
