个人简介
My research group at IBERS (https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/ibers/staff-profiles/listing/profile/goa ) focuses on how architecture and chemical composition affect the efficiency of thermochemical and biological conversion of energy grass cell wall. My specific expertise includes gas chromatography / mass spectrometry(GC/MS and GCxGC/MS), liquid chromatography (HPLC and Dionex), mid- and near infrared spectrometry (FTIR and NIRS),chemical imaging (Raman microscopy), thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetry methods (TGA/GC/MS, TGA/FTIR and DSC/FTIR) and the analysis of large data sets by statistical and chemometric methods. I recently developed high-throughput screens for plant components e.g. cell wall aromatics, volatiles, ash alkalinity etc. Prior to my current research I worked on diagnostic discovery (metabolite markers of early BSE and scrapie in blood) and as a molecular biologist involved in algal, plant and eukaryotic studies. I have extensive experience in publication and grant writing, lecturing to post and undergraduate students, and as an undergraduate tutor. In the last 5 years I have supervised 1 PhD, 4 M.Sc. and 4 undergraduate students.
