Greg Unruh

Greg Unruh received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of California at Irvine, Irvine, CA, USA, in 1980. After a short stint at McDonald Douglas Astronautics, he joined Test Master, a subsidiary of Technology Marketing Inc., where he designed test equipment for memory boards, automated testers for magnetic tape, and finally CMOS chips for communication between processor arrays in a medium scale multiprocessor computer. In 1989, he joined Archive Corporation, Tampa, FL, USA (acquired by Seagate, and then by Quantum), where he led the development of many ASICs used in data storage tape drives. He was an Active Contributor to the development of the LTO format for magnetic tape storage, and to its publication as Standard ECMA-319. He was the Editor for the Standard ECMA-321—Streaming Lossless Data Compression Algorithm. He joined Broadcom, Irvine, in 2007. He has been developing digital logic for mixed-signal IP, including analog and digital phase-locked loops. He holds five U.S. patents.
