Research summary
My research interests are strongly interdisciplinary. I am a member of the British Pharmacological Society and I am one of the team that currently runs their ‘General and Advanced Receptor Theory’ course. I am also a long-standing member of the Biophysical Society. Work in my laboratory can be divided into several areas. First, we aim to understand the molecular composition, pharmacology and physiological role of potassium channels. A second theme for my laboratory is developing new biophysical methods, particularly in relation to developing the use of scanning ion conductance microscopy as a tool for studying biology. Finally, we are using biophysical, electrophysiological and systems modelling techniques to examine epithelial cells in health and disease. This work is in collaboration with Paola Vergani, Vivek Dua and Marco Radi.
