Hao Cai

Hao Cai received the B.S. degree in civil engineering from Central South University, Changsha, China, in 1997, and the M.S. degree in information processing and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of York, York, U.K., in 2001 and 2005, respectively. From 2005 to 2008, he was a Research Associate with the Safety Critical System Laboratory, London Metropolitan University, London, U.K. From 2008 to 2012, he was a Technical Lead at Altran Praxis High Integrity Systems, Bath, U.K. He is currently the Technical and Scientific Director for multiple complex safety critical systems, such as the NATS Air Traffic Control System, U.K. and the Engine Monitoring Unit (EMU) System for Trent XWB and Trent 900 Jet Engine. Since 2012, he has been a Professor (formerly the Department Chair) with the Department of Computer Science, Shantou University, China. He is the author of three books and more than 50 articles. He holds more than ten patents. His research interests include safety critical systems, hardware and software architectures for high-integrity real-time systems, and dependable and distributed computing systems for industrial robotics. Dr. Cai was a recipient of the Top-Notch Scientist Award for the Guangdong Province, China, in 2014. He was elected as the President of the Blockchain Industry Association, Shantou, China, in 2020.
