Dr. Zen was awarded a 2006 ASJ Awaya Award, a 2008 ASJ Itakura Award, a 2008 TAF TELECOM System Technology Award, a 2008 IEICE Information and Systems Society Best Paper Award, a 2009 IPSJ Yamashita SIG Research Award, and a 2013 IPSJ Kiyasu Special Industrial Achievement Award. He is a member of the IEEE and ISCA, and was a member of the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee (SLTC) between 2012 and 2014. He was also an Associate Editor of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing between 2017 and 2020. He was elected as a fellow of ISCA in 2022.
