His research is concerned with development of catalytic technologies with an artificial photosynthetic process. This includes catalytic hydrogenation of CO2to alcohols, solar hydrogen production from water by oxide semiconductor photoelectrodecatalysts, and dye-sensitized solar cell. He received manyawards such as Award of Japan Institute of Energy, Merits of Minister of Science and Technology Agency, Japan and so on. He is the author and co-author of over 280 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of CO and CO2conversion, water splitting photocatalystsand dye-sensitized solar cell.He is the vice-president of Japan Solar Energy Society.
