The major research interests of Professor Lan are focusing on TGF-beta/Smad signaling in cardiovascular and kidney diseases, diabetic and hypertensive complications, as well as cancer microenvironment. As PI or Co-PI, he received more than 70 national and international grants including NHMRC grants from Australia; a P50, T32 and two RO1 grants from NIH; 4 Collaborative Research Grants (CRF), a Theme-Based Research Scheme (TRS), an Impact Research Fund (IRF), 16 General Research Grants (GRF), and 3 Joint Research Schemes from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council; 5 grants from the Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF) and 2 Innovative Technology Fund (ITF) from Hong Kong Government; a Major Basic State Research Program (973) and an International Science and Technology Collaborative Grants from Mainland China, and many other Foundational and Phamatheutical grants. He published more than 360 publications with the impact of h-index 85 with >25,000 citations (Thomson Reuters) or h-index 103 with >35,000 citation (Google Scholar). His research achievements won many national scientific awards. Currently, he services as an Editorial Board member for Journal American Society of Nephrology, Kidney Dis, and Sci Reports; Associate Editor for Molecular Therapy, Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, and Frontiers in Physiology; Executive Editor for International J Biological Sciences; Editor for Clinical experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, and Editor-in-Chief for Integrative Medicine in Nephrology and Andrology.
